National Student Awards Entry Deadline Extended

London, Monday 12th August: P1 Marine Foundation has extended the closing date for its National Student Awards to give more students the chance to enter their projects after the summer break.

The National Student Awards was due to close for entries on 31st July, has now been extended to 13th December 2013. The Awards programme is a unique opportunity for students studying in the marine environmental field to be able to receive funding for their projects. It is open to students at any level of higher education in the UK with the winning entry receiving up to £1000. For more information or to enter please visit the website:

The entries will be judged by a panel of scientists, environmental leaders and specialists from the marine industry which include Dr Trevor Dixon Marine Pollution Specialist from Advisory Committee on the Protection of the Sea and Kirsty Schneeberger MBE, Lawyer in training, Formerly of the Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future.

As part of this Awards scheme P1 Marine Foundation has set up a ‘First Step’ networking event to bring students and businesses together which will be incorporated into the Awards evening to be held in January 2014.

First Step is an initiative designed to bridge the gap between students and businesses by showcasing innovative work from students to the marine industry that will help to develop solutions for the future of the marine environment.

Established in September 2010, the Foundation contributes to ground-breaking research by recognising and supporting the role of educational establishments and acknowledging their outstanding academics through a variety of projects that include the National Student Awards.
