National Student Awards

Congratulations to our National Student Awards winners for their inspiring projects

Winnie Courtene Jones, from SAMS UHI, won top prize for her project ‘Microplastics in the deep sea ecosystem’. The Crown Estate ‘Seabed Innovation Award’ was awarded to Kathryn O'Shaughnessy for her project ‘Green engineering of coastal infrastructure: a design for life’, the MCS Wakefield Memorial Award went to Imogen Napper for her research on ‘The Sources and Fate of Plastic in the Marine Environment’ and a joint runner prize went to Tegan Consol, these three winners were from Plymouth University. Luke Holman, the joint runner up from the University of Southampton also won for his project ‘Environmental DNA as a promising tool for early detection of marine invasive species’.
