Powerboat P1 Honoured With UIM 'Green Diploma' Award

More than 400 VIP guests and 80 world powerboat champions from 25 countries were gathered in the superb Salle des Etoiles in Monaco last weekend to see UIM President Raffaele Chiulli present a special environmental achievement award to Powerboat P1.

P1 Chairman Asif Rangoonwala received the 'Green Diploma' award in recognition of the company's excellent development work and application of environmentally friendly technologies and its efforts in 'greening' the sport.

The P1 Marine Foundation was set up in September 2010 to help preserve and improve the marine and coastal environment and the launch of its SuperStock Championship saw P1 select Evinrude, an engine that meets and surpasses the emission standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the California Air Resources Board and the European Union, as its exclusive engine supplier. During last year's race season, P1 carried out an environmental review to assess the impact of its operations and events and to then draw up targets for continually improving its environmental performance.
